Sober Truth on Preventing Underage DRINKING ACT Grant

The purpose of the STOP Act Grant program is to prevent and reduce alcohol USE AMONG youth and young adults ages 12 to 20 in communities throughout the UNITED STATES. With this program, SAMHSA aims to: (1) address norms regarding alcohol USE AMONG youth; (2) reduce opportunities for underage drinking; (3) create changes IN UNDERAGE drinking enforcement efforts; (4) address penalties for underage use; and/OR (5) reduce negative consequences associated with underage drinking (e.g., MOTOR VEHICLE crashes, sexual assaults).

 Using tools such as the campaign "Talk, they hear you", will help reach the community and spread the word of prevention and awareness on underage drinking.

 RBST is a program that teaches people how to serve alcohol responsibly and legally. The training is intended for people who work in establishments that sell or serve alcohol, including servers, managers, and owners.

Conducting workshops on legal issues related to underage drinking will create awareness on the parents so they can make an informed decision when it comes to allowing their child to drink.
